Wild Card Search

Sometimes you don’t know what exactly you are looking for. That’s when wildcard search may come in handy. Wildcard search can be used as placeholder for any sequence of characters or words.

Here are a few examples which will help you to use Wild card search:

  • Starting with : abc*

When you are looking for a company or name starting with ABC but you cannot remember the rest

select Account from the smart search option then type in abc* in the search bar and click on Search.

All companies starting with ABC shows up in the search result

  • Ending with : *abc

When you are looking for a name but you can just remember the last name

select Account from the smart search option then type in *abc in the search bar and click on Search

  • Anywhere: *Soff*

When we are searching for a word of which we remember few letters, the letters can be in the beginning of the word or the end or anywhere in between

Select Contact from the smart search option then type in *Soff* in the search bar and click on Search

The search result will show all records which has Soff anywhere in a word.

  • Exact Match: 

When we know exactly what we are looking for.

Note: we are searching for Contact Brian.

The search result will show a record with the exact words you searched.
