Tips for Automated Campaigns

Introduction:

Before creating your first Automated Campaign, check out helpful tips mentioned below about various Events, Decisions, and Actions.

Tips before you start designing your Marketing and Sales strategy.

  • Plan out the entire strategy beforehand, so that you can best utilize the tools offered by Soffront.
  • Make sure you use the canvas as clean as possible, that way entire representation can understand in one shot.
  • After Start, Touch Campaign or Web Form anyone of these two events should be used to start with.

Tips for Start with events:

Touch Campaign:

  • Touch Campaign event must have at least one Send Email action under it.
  • In an Automation Designer, you can have multiple Touch Campaign events.
  • If there are two Touch Campaigns in an Automation Designer and second touch campaign would be sent to those who have opened the first message then Start with a date of the second touch message should be at least 1 day after first touch campaign’s start date.
  • If you copy an existing Automation Designer which has Touch Campaign in it then copied Automation Designer will be created with a blank value in the Start Date field of the Touch Campaign.

Web Form:

  • This is an event but works like a decision block.
  • The application does not allow using the same Web Form in multiple Automation Designer.

Tips for Decisions:

Link Clicked:

  • Should be added after Send Email action only.
  • Currently, link clicked is being supported for single hyperlink only in an email message, not for multiple hyperlinks in an email message.
  • Wait should be the first action after No; hence when you add the first action under No, wait action would be added automatically in between No and that action.

Email Opened:

  • Should be added after Send Email action only.
  • Wait should be the first action after No; hence when you add the first action under No, wait action would be added automatically in between No and that action.

Unsubscribed:

  • Should be added after Email action only.
  • Although Unsubscribed is a decision block, only Yes path is enabled.
  • The system automatically disassociates all the groups from the Lead after unsubscribing operation hence it is meaningless to have Change Group action under this.

Tips for Actions:

Send Email:

  • Send Email can be added under a Touch Campaign only.
  • First Send Email action under a Touch Campaign does not have an interval field. Default interval value for this message is 0 and it runs on the start date provided in the Touch Campaign which associates with it.
  • Provide intervals for all the subsequent Send Email actions after the first Send Email. Interval can be defined in hours or days and minimum interval should be 1 hour.
  • One Send Email action can be added to three decision blocks.

Change Group:

  • Change Group should not be added under unsubscribed decision block.
  • Change Group cannot be added under Assign action.
  • There must be a decision block or Web Form event before Add note action.

Add Note:

  • Notes which are created automatically with this action will have System as Author.
  • There must be a decision block or Web Form event before Add note action.

Add Task:

  • There must be a decision block or Web Form event before Add Task action.
  • You can create one task automatically through this action.
  • You cannot have Add Task action after another Add Task action.

Notify:

  • There must be a decision block or Web Form event before Notify action.
  • Chose Users check box if you want to send a notification email to multiple people.
  • Chose Sales rep if you want to send a notification email to the Sales rep of respective Lead record.

Update Field:

  • Fields of either Accounts or Contacts can be updated.
  • Maximum four fields of Accounts or Contacts can be updated.
  • There must be a decision block or Web Form event before Update Field action.

Assign:

  • There must be a decision block or Web Form event before Assign action.
  • Through Assign action you can automatically assign Accounts to a desired Sales rep.

Convert:

  • There must be a decision block or Web Form event before Convert action.
  • If there are multiple workflows available for Accounts then Workflow drop-down list would be available in the Convert dialog to choose the appropriate workflow.

Wait:

  • Wait for action is not available in the left toolbar, it is being added automatically under No result of Link Clicked or Email Opened decisions when the first connection is being established between No and an Action.
  • The default interval for the wait is 5 days, but if you want you can change it according to your requirement.

SMS:

  • There must be Email Opened or Link Clicked decision block before SMS action.
  • To add SMS action under Web form or Landing page event, you need to add any other available action before SMS action.
  • While configuring SMS action, you can design your own SMS or can select any pre-designed SMS template from the template list.
  • You can not add SMS action under Score Reached or Unsubscribed decision.
  • Choose any of the available verified number which you want to use as the From number of your SMS.
